The BRIDGE OF TERROR is a fictional novella based on a historical event that occurred during the Civil Rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, on March 7, 1965. At the Edmund Pettus Bridge, the march took a violent turn, when state troopers and members of the Ku Klux Klan attacked the group of about 600 men, women, and children.National news outlets reported the happenings on television along with the shocking brutality the marchers encountered. The world became outraged by the violence and initiated actions that lead to the Voting Rights Act of 1965.This story outlines the events through the experiences of a young girl, Carrie Johnson, and her friend, Mary Lou, who participated in the event best remembered as Bloody Sunday.
